LF2A Panel

The MPI StrongSeam LF2A Panel is a robust, mechanically seamed architectural and structural standing seam roof system designed for both aesthetic appeal and high performance. It offers versatility by accommodating installation over open purlins or solid decks, making it adaptable to various construction requirements. A key feature is the return leg on both the male and female seams, which significantly enhances the panel’s strength and wind uplift resistance. This design, combined with its availability in paint-to-order colors and surface options like smooth, striated, or two-bead, allows for customization to meet specific project needs. The minimum recommended slope for this panel is 0.5:12, ensuring effective water runoff. Panels available in 24 ga. and 22 ga., offered in 32 PVDF stock colors, plus galvalume and glossy white. Panels available by special order in 22 ga.

Structurally, the LF2A Panel is engineered to withstand demanding conditions. It achieves a UL 90 uplift resistance rating, a testament to its ability to endure significant wind forces, making it a reliable choice for projects in areas prone to high winds. Furthermore, it boasts a Class 4 impact rating under the UL 2218 standard, indicating exceptional durability against hail impact. This high rating not only ensures longevity and reduces potential weather-related damage but also can lead to insurance premium discounts. The panel is constructed from 22 GA to 24 GA minimum material and offers a 16″ panel width with a 2.0″ seam height, providing a solid and reliable roofing solution.

Installation of the StrongSeam LF2A Panel necessitates the use of panel clips, which are crucial for maintaining the structural integrity of the standing seam system. These clips secure the panels, allow for thermal expansion and contraction, and enhance weather resistance by minimizing gaps and potential water ingress. Proper spacing of these clips, according to manufacturer guidelines and engineering specifications, is essential to accommodate environmental conditions such as wind loads. Compatible substrates include open framing and B-Deck with ISO, offering flexibility in application. The minimum installation slope is 0.5:12, ensuring efficient water drainage.
